Yin yoga
Yin yoga
Yin yoga is the passive calm and slow type of yoga invented in the US in the 80s by Paul Lewis. It regenerates and activates the often least cared but most important tissue: the fascia. They constitute a very fine net everywhere in our body. In yin yoga, we gently massage them by staying 4 minutes in each pose. Usually our muscles keep blocking by remaining tense the first two minutes then start relaxing. There is no rule for perfect alignment or gracefulness in yin yoga. Your body is giving you its own rule which is personal. It tells you when it feels good to you or if you need more props like pillows, blankets, blocks,…to optimize the comfort of the stretch. You escape from the high speed reality of modern life and concentrate on the sensations in your body. After a session you will feel rejuvenated and relaxed as if you had a full body massage!
